A day of inspiration.

Who could have thought a day would turn out so inspirational?

A normal Wednesday, alarm goes off, breakfast, meds, cup of tea. Later, I have a meeting with a fellow student on my Open university course, which went very well, then I went for the most important of my meetings. A meeting with another friend of mine, an educational psychologist. We got talking, about visually impaired psychologists, and I said how I had tried to contact one in the US, but after fruteless effort, I did not succeed. “Okay, I’ll give you two names.” was his response. Sure enough, I thought, let’s go on the internet olympics. Off on the search I went. Website after website, article after article, facebook page after facebookpage, group, after group, until, there they were. Email addresses of the people he’d mentioned. I’d struck gold. Now, will they reply? Slowly, and carefuly, I planned my email, and began typing. I probably won’t get a reply, was my thought, It’ll be like last time. A fruitless effort, that came to an end, after ages trying, and always wondering, could we have built a rapport? Sending the emails, I waited, but was not building my hopes up. Suddenly, my iPhone vibrates and makes a noise. An email. One of them had replied. Oh my goodness! Wow! I couldn’t believe it! My luck was in! Not only that, but a short while later, the second replied! Double luck! I’d most definitely struck gold! Who ever is making sure my luck is in, please keep it going! Thank you, to who ever you are. I never thought I’d succeed, succeed in contacting others in the field I want to go into. Emotional, I replied furiously. Now we wait. Let the rapport begin! Let a hopeful friendship begin too! To them both, thank you for replying. This means so much. Thank you. Thank you so much.

I'm 24 years old, totally blind, and suffer from Epilepsy, which is controlled. My interests include Neurology, Psychology, anything to do with the weather, and other documentaries. I am also a classical singer, though not professional. I am studying towards a degree in Psychology with counselling with the Open University. I wish eventually, to pursue a career in neurorehabilitation, or in neuropsychology, in order to help those who have sustained traumatic brain injuries, Acquired Brain injuries, stroke, and other neurological conditions. I wish to help them to cope psychologically too, and help them to see the positive side to the life that they have now. As someone with a disability myself, I wish to tell those, "Do not say that you cannot do something. I do not wish to hear that. I wish to hear that you can, and you will succeed."
